MCP? Here's What You Need to Know
Anthropic's Agent framework to securely connect LLMs to Services

⏱️ Your Morning Brief (TL;DR)
Welcome back,
AI’s moving fast, but we’re here to help.
Today, we’ve got another three letter acronym for you. MCP.
Model Context Protocol.
MCP is a standard introduced by Anthropic and backed by OpenAI as a way to connect AI to tools, data, and services more reliably.
Before going deeper, here’s what else to expect today:
What is MCP? Why it’s important.

💡 This Week’s Deep Dive
Model Context Protocol (MCP) - The USB for AI
It Begins with LLMs
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity. All your favourite LLM (Large Language Model) is an type of AI that is primarily skilled at understanding and generating human-like text by predicting the next word in a sequence.
LLMs can predict, beyond that they are incapable of doing anything meaningful.
That’s where tools come in. If you’ve used ChatGPT with it’s Search functiona, that’s pairing the LLM with web search (tool).

LLMs and Tools
What is MCP?
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a universal language that lets AI systems talk to external tools and services, like USB-C. Similar to APIs, which connect software on the internet, MCP translates services into a simple way for LLMs to connect and access different outside resources.
MCP make LLMs more capable.
Why not APIs?
Traditional APIs don't meet AI's needs because they lack a universal standard for AI-tool interaction. With MCP and given context, AI agents can decide which tools to use, in what order, and how to chain them together to accomplish a task
Use Cases
With MCP, any client application becomes an "everything app" that can seamlessly access multiple services:

GPTLDR Takeaways
Like anything with AI right now, it’s early, but there’s a lot of excitement on the potential of Agents and MCP unlocks a lot. Here’s the potential with MCP:
Creates new user experiences through seamless combination of services
Enable "everything apps" where one interface accesses multiple services
Accelerates development cycles by eliminating manual integration work
Shifts competitive advantage toward companies with AI-accessible tools
Represents strategic investment for organizations wanting to stay ahead in AI innovation
